Mussoorie is an authentic hill station in Uttarakhand situated at a height of 2005 meters above the sea level. It is located at a distance of 35 km from Dehradun. Mussoorie derives its name from the plants of Mussoorie or shrubs Mansoor, which are available there in large quantities. Mussoorie, popularly known as the queen of hills is located at the foothills of the majestic Himalayas. Here are 10 amazing reasons to visit Mussoorie now!

(1) Natural Greenery

The sumptuous green hills, the wide-ranging flora, and fauna, and the majestic view of the Shivalik ranges and the Doon valley fascinates lakhs of both domestic and international tourists every year. One can visit the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary and the Bhadraj Forest. The heavenly scenic beauty of the destination is just not confined to any description.

Also, the happy valley became the home for many Tibetans because of the construction and development of the first Tibetan School in the year 1960.

The destination is a popular cool summer retreat in India. The weather is cool and pleasant throughout the year. The temperature rises to a maximum of only 30℃ during summer. The winters are spine-chilling. There are occasional snowfalls in winter and the maximum temperature reached is 10℃. Monsoons see very heavy rainfall. With the onset of the spring season at the end of September, the place reaches its apex of beauty.

With the sound of crystal clear water gliding on the rocks, one loves to watch the magnificent waterfalls. Mussoorie’s waterfalls are the Napoleons of tourist attraction. The Kempty Falls in Dhanaulti is a fascinating spot to visit. The next pit stop must be the Jharipani Falls, where one gets a vast view of the Shivalik Range. In the meantime, one can familiarize oneself with the wildflowers and the birds of the mountain.

The shopping enthusiasts are not disappointed in Mussoorie. From brass statues to oak-wood items and from antiques to exceptionally designed ceramic items, one can find varieties of things to shop. ‘The Mall’, in the heart of the town, has clusters of local markets. The Tibetan market and the Landour market are also great for shopping. One always tends to buy the hand-woven shawl in the chilling weather.
